Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"A sneaky coffee shop treat with my lad... A very friendly, accommodating and welcoming space - great customer service! Coffee and Rocky road both hit the spot just right. A big thank you to the employee that went the extra mile for us today!"
"Been a regular customer for years now and while the prices are steep, the food and drinks are very nice. The one thing that I will complain about is the treatment of the staff. I find the staff who work at the Newcastle branch to be very nice, polite and I often have a chat with them if they're not busy. However two of the staff members that I usually spoke to left suddenly and when I spotted one of them working in another shop in town, they said that they were forced out because it was cheaper to hire younger staff than to keep older staff and that the higher ups were more interested in making profit over anything else. If this is the case then I am absolutely disgusted by this and I feel absolutely sorry for the other staff members who could be fired over something like this. Part of my enjoyment coming to the Coffee House is interacting with the staff. They know me well enough to know what I want before I even make the order and are always polite to me and my family. If your staff are being replaced because it's cheaper to hire younger people then this is a clear sign of ageism and shows that you don't care about looking after your staff."
"I visit the Coffee House in Newcastle quite regularly as I work in town. I walk past a few coffee shops but always end up at this one. The staff are always so lovely and welcoming, everywhere is always clean and even the music is just the nice level of chill!!"
"Those that have read my reviews previously may know that I have had "experiences" with The Coffee House in the past. I am glad that I gave this company a second chance as the standards that I was hoping would be met in the Potteries store was surpassed massively by the staff, service and quality of food in the Newcastle branch. I spoke to two friendly workers, one of whom asked me about my day while they prepared my drink. Their technique in steaming the milk was impeccable, and this can be shown through the immaculate latte art on-top. The ratio of foamy milk, to steamed milk, to espresso was an exact 1:1:1; it's clear that this barista was not only knowledgeable, but passionate about their job. I could hear said employee passing on helpful advice to another employee, so it's always great to hear others sharing on the job! The coffee itself was gently bitter, but I think it would be a disservice to talk about my drink when the staff were friendly to *every* customer that came in! But I digress, the coffee was spectacular, with a Teya rewards system where one can receive an 11th cup for free using its rewatd system on their phone. As I had said in a previous review for a different branch, I would have to try one of the baked goods. I chose the Honeycomb tiffin today, and enjoyed the chocolate brick immensely, with small dots of honeycomb offering a small crunch. The shop is an ideal place to sit for a while, as it is out of direct sunlight and has adequate air conditioning, despite both doors being open fully! There are a row of perhaps 6-7 seats that would get natural sunlight, so for those who wish to bask in the glow can do so. This has become my favourite place to cool off in Newcastle now, sipping a latte and catching my breath after a busy day shopping. I would recommend anyone wanting to take time off their feet to visit The Coffee House in Newcastle, even if they have visited other branches. I hope that the new staff that started working here (as this store at the time of writing has been open for one day) continue to sparkle with the same enthusiasm that I shared with them, while I sipped my latte and enjoyed my sweet treat."
"Nice staff, very polite and interesting. Plenty of space, comfortable to study or work. The coffee is not super tasty. But overall a cool place, a great alternative to other coffee shops"

"I visited The Coffee House with my friend and my little girl today. I had a large mocha and all butter shortbread, which were amazing and not too bad on price either. The staff were so lovely and spoke to my little girl and made her feel so welcome. I would highly recommend going here for coffee or lunch."
"First time I've been to the coffee house and I got to say what a lovely place to visit. Plenty of room to sit down and stretch out and have a nice cup of coffee and a treat. Staff are very pleasant and helpful and made a lovely cup of coffee for both of us. I had an almond tart and it's one of the best almond tarts I have ever had. When I'm in town I will make it a point to go to the coffee house for a cup of coffee and a treat. The coffee house makes a pleasant change from the national coffee shop establishments. Presentation top class."
